Books Requested: 441

Operation "Book Fairy"

Operation "Book Fairy" has concluded. A total of 441 books were requested, and 586 dollars were raised for shipping. Due to some people requesting multiple copies and others picking up their books in person, I was able to fulfill all requests! The last of the books were mailed out on December 15th. Thanks to all who participated, and a special thanks to those of you who donated - your generosity helped make Operation "Book Fairy" a Success!

Operation Book Fairy

Since this holiday season is especially hard on everyone this year, I want to do something special. But it's a sort of experiment. I think it could happen, but I can't do it alone. I've named it Operation "Book Fairy." You can be a Book Fairy this year, and help someone receive Fairy Senses as a gift!

The list price for Fairy Senses, which placed as a finalist in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, is $14.95, but I will mail autographed copies at no charge whatsoever to people who request them on my website from now until December 10th - up to a possible total of 1,000 copies. That's 1,000 copies that I am willing to donate to make people's holiday season just a little bit brighter.

I plan to ship the books by December 13th anywhere in the US using media mail with delivery confirmation. Here's where the experiment comes in. In order to ship the books, I need help. The postage combined with boxes and packing materials comes to a cost of around 4 dollars to ship each book. I have 100 dollars to get things started. That means, as of right now, I can ship books to the first 25 people who request them on my website. To continue shipping books past 25 copies, I need help.

Donations will be accepted via Paypal through my publishing company, Hinterland Sky Press. Each day the website will be updated to show how many books have been requested and how many donations have been received. You do not need to donate any money to request a book. As long as there are funds, I will ship books to people in the order they are requested up to the maximum of 1,000 books. You could of course request a book for yourself or a loved one and then donate towards shipping, or you could simply donate without requesting a book so that someone somewhere can receive a great present this holiday season!

In the case that there are any excess donations after all the books have shipped, I will donate the remaining portion to my local literacy council, the Literacy Council of Buncombe County. Estimated amount needed to ship 1,000 books: $4,000.

That about covers the plan. Let's see how many books I can ship. It would be so awesome if we could reach the 1,000 book goal, which would make Operation "Book Fairy" a massive success!

Rules:

-You may request multiple copies, but I reserve the right to limit amounts requested by a single individual or shipped to a single address to ensure availablity and fairness to everyone (schools or charity organizations, contact me to inquire about larger numbers)

-Limited to US mailing addresses (includes Alaska and Hawaii)

-The first 1,000 book requests will be honored assuming there are sufficient shipping funds. You will be notified via email by December 13th if you will be receiving the book, along w/ shipping details.

Note: not all books will come with the award stickers attached, the award stickers are generally reserved for books purchased through Amazon.
